Tussock workers

Sir, — The North Canterbury Nassella Tussock Board is reported (“The Press”, May 21) to be considering the employment of a public relations firm to improve its reputation. This is a timid approach. Surely if the board provides reasonable conditions and facilities for its employees — and this does not mean lavish facilities — then it has nothing to fear from critics. The employment of a public relations officer reflects adversely on the board and if it cannot competently carry out its functions its members should resign and make way for a new board. Many local bodies find it far too easy to pass resolutions involving added expense to the community. — Yours, etc., D. J. MacLEOD, Cust. May 23, 1977.
