L. C. Purdon injured
J Press Association Auckland ( i A spectacular crash marred i the Pyramus Pace at Alexandra _ Park on Saturday night, resulting in L. C. Purdon’s being injured. He is likely to be on the sideline for the remainder of the season. Purdon was the driver of Ellamon, which lost his footing after a good beginning and fell d ; soon after the mobile barrier [, ’ was released. e Mabella, which was right ben hind, cannoned into the falling s Ellamon and also Purdon. Moon y Commander and Leitrim also came down in the mix-up and d Miss Pix was badly checked and d was pulled up. s Purdon was thought to have n I escaped injury on the night but, on a second hospital visit yesterday morning, he was found d to have fractured a bone in his left wrist. C. B. Chandler, who seemed d to be in a bad wav after the n smash, was taken to hospital for it X-ray but was found to have escaped serious injury. e He returned home to Morrinsn ville later on Saturday night and e yesterday was nursing a badlvt- bruised shoulder and a swollen foot.
