‘Wedding bells
Members of the Christchurch Cathedral Society of Bellringers rang a quarter peal of Grandsire Triples on the Cathedral bells on Wednesday. The quarter peal was rung as a compliment to Mr and Mrs John Gardner on their thirtieth wedding anni- ' versarv. Those taking part were: treble. Shirley Scott; two. Tessa Hollis; three. Stanmore : Barnett; four. Robert Bennett; five, Peter Whitehead I (conductor); six. Jim Reeve; seven, Colin Ward; tenor, (Michael Clayton.
Rugby.—The former Bay of | Plenty and New Zealand Maoris’ halfback. Chris Jacobs, has joined one of Sydney’s leading clubs. Jacobs has been thrust straight into Northern Suburbs top team for a pre-season knockout competition.
