Drages to close
Drages Company, Ltd, the home-furnishing store in High Street, Christchurch, will close next week.
The company’s governing director (Mr L. Corner) said last evening that the shop, owned by the company, had been sold. Mr Corner, who is in his 70s and has been in the trade for 50 years, is retiring. The question of redundancy payments for senior staff is being negotiated between the Canterbury Shop Assistants’ Union and the Canterbury Employers’ Association.
