Billiards and snooker double
The Shirley-St Albans W.M.C. has completed the double of winning the Canterbury inter-club billiards and snooker competitions this year. It won the billiards title last month and last week its No. 1 team clung to a diminishing lea.d to take the snooker title as well.
Shirley 1 held a comfortable lead for most of the snooker competition, but a couple of losses late in the season left it only two points ahead of its nearest rival, Richmond, going into the final round. Its last opponent was Richmond and Shirley stayed in front by winning, 2-1. The new summer competition — the snooker will now be a summer event — was also started last week and a changed Shirley 1 team began badly when it lost, 2-1, to Papanui. Woolston, the only team to record a 3-0
victory, is the early leader. Results: Winter competition
