Old Boys basketball side still unbeaten
High School Old Boys are now the only team remaining unbeaten in the Canterbury A grade men’s basketball summer league. Further stengthened by the inclusion of the young 6ft 6in New Zealand trialist, John Hall, Old Boys gained a convincing 82-42 win over Aranui High School in the third round. Previously unbeaten, Y.M.C.A. suffered its first defeat of the summer season against N.A.C., 66-60. It now shares second place with N.A.C., Cave Rock, and Lakers.
In the women’s A grade, Mairehau retained its narrow lead with a comfortable 36-20 victory over Brighton. Its two nearest challengers. University and Checkers, both registered wins to keep their hopes alive. Points are.— Men.—Old Boys 6, Y.M.C.A. 4, N. 4, Cave Rock 4. Lakers 4, Soulseekers 2, Shirley 0, Aranui O.
