Power cuts
Sir, —Power boards seem to wait until conditions are "desperate” before cutting power. A friend, concerned at the size of her bill, was told that one bill in her area was $260! What is any electricity authority doing to allow such colossal greed? Some of us who read our meters several times a day, have sin baths, and wash up once a day in a bowl, from jugs (water from taps uses two gallons to heat the pipes), feel great indignation at such selfishness. Is it not possible to put some curb on the amount any one household can use? What about charging commercial rate or higher on all power over a reasonable figure? Solar water heaters should be compulsory in
all new building, and solar pool heaters in all swimming pools. The D.S.I.R. has a free booklet on both types. — Yours, etc., E. EILERS. October 13, 1976.
