Addington Market Steers sell well
Prices were often better than expected at a special sale of two-year-old steers at the Addington Market yesterday. On a comparison of size, however, some of the medium cattle did not always sell as strongly as the large yearlings on Wednesday. ! ! The sale did not draw a large yarding — only 680 head — but it included some very good Herefords. Where they were in good, forward condition, they fetched quite good prices. Best two-year-old steers sold at $124 to $134, with a few pens of older cattle in killable condition to $183; medium steers ranged from $lO5 to $l2O, and smaller or lighter steers at $B5 to $lOO. As well as local buyers there was a little competition from Mid-Canterbury and the West Coast. Steers in prime condition drew inquiry from the butchery trade. Details of sales were, all cattle being two-year-olds, unless otherwise stated:—
