Fined for keeping brothel
PA Wellington For keeping a brothel, Diane Lorrain Hartley, aged 25, unemployed, was fined $250 when she appeared before Mr J. A. Wicks, SM., in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court. Hartley had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge through her counsel, Mr R. Stacey. Police alleged that between March 27 and June 21, Hartley had been providing "extras” at a massage parlour.
The accused had admitted "providing relief” and said that her charges for certain acts had ranged from $l5 to $45. In explanation Hartley had said she did it to pay outstanding debts.
