Yearling sales venue
PA Hamilton The presidents of the Auckland and Waikato branches of the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Association have said that the feasibility study commissioned by the combined executive committees has proved conclusively that the thoroughbred bleeding industry can no longer afford to support a National Yearling Sale at Trentham. A sub committee appointed to consider the matter resolved that: The sub-committee is satisfied that it has been proved conclusively that the National Yearling Sales should be moved from Trentham to a venue in the north in the near future. Tiie Auckland and Waikato branches be recommended to use ail means in their power to establish a round of thoroughbred yearling sales of international standing in the north. Tl>e branches be recommended to undertake a further study to determine the precise location, nature and size of tiie facilities needed to accommodate a round of sales and to recommend a management and financial strategy to make it operational as soon as possible.
