Costs in court action
Sir. — Anyone and everyone who upholds the principle that iujstio must not
only be done, but be seen to be done, will wholeheartedly applaud the sentiments expressed by C. K. Hampton in his letter on September 16. Among the demagogic promises made by Mr Muldoon during his election campaigning was one to restore law and order. Does Mr Muldoon consider himself above the law? Is Mr Muldoon above the law? Will Mr Muldoon be allowed to flout the law and evade the consequences by requiring the Government to pay the costs for his illegal action. Mr Muldoon must not be allowed to play fast and loose with thj law in the cavalier manner which he proposes. A nation-wide roar of indignation should demand that Mr Muldoon himself and not the taxpayer should pay the cost of the court action successfully brought against him. — Yours, etc.,
M. CREEL. September 16, 1976.
