Council on waiting list
The Malvern County Council is on the waiting list to meet its district member of Parliament, Mr C. C. A. McLachlan, the member for Rakaia, when he returns from an overseas trip. This assurance was given by the chairman (Mr G. E. Wright) at a meeting of the council on Friday.
The council sent an urgent telegram to Mr McLachlan on August 13, and had a reply to say that as he was going overseas the next day, it would not be possible to meet the council, said Mr Wright. Cr D. W. Mulholland referred to the council’s protracted efforts to get a date from Mr McLachlan. The council wanted, particularly, to discuss the joint hydro-electric-irri-gation scheme, and the time to do this was “ripe and urgent.”
