Socialist Unity Party
Sir,—D. F. Oakley’s letter
betrays an incredible naivety that, fortunately for the S.U.P., is shared by 96 per cent of New Zealanders. It is not secret that the aim of the S.U.P. is to overthrow the capitalist system and to replace it with socialism. You cannot start a revolution if our workers are happy with their lot. You need discontent, industrial anarchy, large numbers of unemployed and general break-down of economy to provide revolutionaries. The aim of every true member of the S.U.P. must be to cause as much disruption as possible for this purpose. Continuous claims for higher wages, rolling strikes and other methods are not aimed to improve the lot of the' workers —after all, private ownership of land, houses, cars and TV sets just turns them into mini-capitalists—but to lay the foundation for the overthrow of our present system. —Yours, etc.,
C. E. FIELD. August 21, 1976.
