(Mr Muldoon) and the Minister of Social Welfare (Mr Walker) on people on the Domestic Purposes Benefit, by implying that they should marry, remarry or go off the benefit and go to work.” N.O.W. said in a statement that it wondered where the “much-vaunted” concern for children came into thi- It has become increasingly evident that the children were the ultimate casualties where
there was no satisfactory economic basis for family life. The organisation was concerned that the Governments "constant attacks" on solo parents lowered their already-faltering esteem. It has asked that the utmost urgency be given to having these monetary matters reviewed “more humanely.”
