Five scouts get awards
Queen’s Scouts Awards were made last night to five members of the Venturers’ unit of the Avonside Scout Group — making 22 scouts from this group that have won the award since it was reformed in 1969. The awards were made to Richard Doney. Scott Henwood, Bernard Musson, Neville Reeves, and Ross Walker by the District Commissioner (Mr B. Hall). To qualify for the award, the boys, whose average age ts 17, spent between two and three years as Venturer scouts, and had to sit 12 examinations on physical, cultural. vocational, and service topics, and two outdoor tests. The award is a red fivesided badge with a gold crown, wom on the uniform. A smaller pin with similar adornment is wom on other clothes. A Chief Scout’s Award was made to Steve Crew.
