BETTING RECORD
The Canterbury Jockey Club came out of its Grand National Steeplechase day on Saturday with a new course betting record, and a spectacular increase in off-course betting.
The on-course total of $518,526 was up $64,364 on the corresponding day last year, and was $14,645 better than the club’s previous course record established on New Zealand Cup day last year.
The off-course total of $856,464 was up $122,553 on Grand National day last year. This year’s total included $55,189 on the new last race quinella.
