D. A. Peake suspended
PA Auckland D. A. Peake, the rider of Ross Rula in the Stembridge Handicap at Pukekohe on Saturday, was suspended up to and including next Saturday (two riding days) for causing interference •to Evander and Reine d’Or in the first 200 metres.
Two jockeys, M. J. Green and T. J. Harrison, were sent to hospital for X-ray and observation. Green received a bruised buttock when his mount, Regulate, fell in the Franklin Hurdles. He later suffered a blackout in the jockey’s room. Regulate received a spinal injury and was destroyed. Harrison suffered mild concussion and an injury to his lower left leg when his mount, Second Choice, ran off and hit a pipe rail dividing the course proper and the steeplechase course in the Red Fox Steeplechase.
