Bowls teams named
The Canterbury indoor bowls team will face its first defence of the A. S. Paterson Trophy I against Southland at the Kearney’s Road Hall on May 1. All members of the Southland team are very experienced. Included are the former Waikato player. A. Old, and a former Canterbury player, W. H. Cuttar.ee. Canterbury has recalled the veteran Peter Logan to help it defend the trophy, symbol of indoor bowling supremacy in the South Island. Logan recently won a singles tournament when he outclassed another Canterbury player, Leon McLennan, in the final Lloyd Bellis, after a period in the North Otago team, will again plav for Canterbury. The teams for the challenge are:— Canterbury.—J. A. Burrows, G. L. Barnes, T. N. Austin. L. G. McLennan (s). P. H. Logan, R. J. Watkin, L. Bellis, A. E. Williamson (s). Southland.—D. Shaw. B. Gerken. D. Kane. R. Meili wick <s), J. Gerken, W. H. Cuttance, A. Old. N. Le Lievre (s). Town team The following Town indoor bowls team has been named to play North Canterbury at Kearneys Road on May 5.— M.
