Win, loss in tennis
(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) BRISBANE New Zealand girls and boys under 16 teams contesting the Wayne Reid Cups at the interstate teams tennis championships met with mixed fortunes yesterday. The boys’ team, led by Da\ id Patterson, broke through for their first win of the series, a 3-0 result against Tasmania. The Tasmanian team hag lost all six matches.
New Zealand won convincingly. Patterson and Mark Lewis, younger biot her of the junior Wimbledon c hampion. < hus Lewis, both won their singles m straight sets. The girls presented Tasmania with only their second w m of the tournament, going down 1-2
The under 19 New Zealand teams contesting the boys Linton Cup and girls Wilson Cup both had byes yesterday, and will play their final matches today. Results.—
Boys’ under 16.—New Zealand 3, Tasmania 0 <D. Patterson beat D. Parsons, 6-3, 6-3; M Lewis beat S. Mackey, 6-1. 6-2; SC, Lewis and S. Norman beat D. Parsons and D Target!, 6-2, 6-7, 6-0).
Girls under 16.—Tasmania 2. New Zealand 1 (K. Byrne beat D. Lcat. 6-3, 6-0; J. Smart beat A. Rolleston. 6-4, 7-5; K Byrne and R. McShane lost to G. Robinson and A. Rolleston. 3-6, 0-6.
