Local-body reform halt
(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON. Dec. 19. The Government has postponed, indefinitely, action on various regional reorganisations of local government. The Local Government Commission said today that the Northland regional scheme, the Southland regional scheme, _ and work on other regional schemes still being considered, had all been postponed after consultations with the Minister of Local Government (Mr Highet).
