Employment for 1100m needed

Developing countries have to create more than 1100 million jobs over the next 25 years to overcome unemployment and give work to newcomers to the labour force, the head of the International Labour Organisation (1.L.0.) said. In an article published by the 1.L.0., the organisation’s French director-general (Mr Francis Blanchard) said that some 300 million people in developing countries were today either unemployed or inadequately employed. Industrialised countries were facing the most serious situation since the end of the Second World War, unemployment approaching 20 million, Mr Blanchard added.
