Human rights commission
The National Council of Churches is to set up a churches’ commission on human rights in Wellington.
The council’s annual meeting in Christchurch yesterday decided that the commission’s obiective': would be to receive information on human rights from overseas ''fn treses and Christian agencies, to disseminate this information through church naoers and the secular news media, and to he free to act an' 1 sneak when necessary. The meeting decided tn ask Sir Guv Powles. Miss F H >tchcock. Dr I. Fraser. a n d Messrs C. Rottingen H. Temnleton. and ,T. Murray to se’O'e on the commission. It also decided to invite the Roman Catholic Church to appoint a representative.
