Air-pollution readings
Linwood still continues to have high and medium smoke-pollution readings, although readings in most other areas in Christchurch have been low.
On August 23, a maximum two-hour smoke concentration of 720 micrograms per cubic metre of air was monitored in Linwood. In the central citv during the same period, thero was a high reading of 302 microcrams. Another high reading of 172 micrograms was regis*ered in Linwood on August 24. Readings from August 18 to **? were medium. the inner and outer suburban areas of Christchurch had mainlv low readings for smoke and sulnhur oxides. Reading* in the central citv to 9 am. vesterdav were- smoke. 25 micrograms: sulnhur nxides. 26 microerams: and nitrogen oxides. 89 micrograms.
