Coal plant for $l2m
GV.Z Press Association) ' WELLINGTON, August 26. A contract worth about sl2m for the construction of a coal-handling plant for the Huntly thermal power station has been awarded to an Australian company, Fox Manufacturing. The Minister of Electricity (Mr Bailey) said a large proportion of the contract would be supplied and manufactured within New Zealand. “Largely through the efforts of the group's New Zealand agent, Richardson McCabe and Company, the contract will have an 83 per cent' local content, and the plant will be erected by New Zealand contractors,” Mr Bailey said. Six companies had tendered for the contract. The plant, which would handle 1000 tonnes of coal an hour, would be the largest of its type in New Zealand, said Mr Bailey.
