Guilty of 9 charges
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Juan Schwanner, a former professional soccer coach, was found guilty in the Supreme Court at Auckland on Thursday of nine of 11 charges ,of intending to defraud others of more than $13,000 by false pretence. Schwanner, aged 52, had pleaded not guilty to the charges, eight of which relate to promises allegedly made to supply sporting associates with cars through relatives overseas. He was found not guilty of two of these charges, involving $3500, The other three charges relate to money he obtained for his wife’s medical expenses. The trial, before Mr Justice Somers, lasted four days. His Honour remanded Schwanner in custody until next Friday for sentence.
