Goal contest conviction
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 29. Wilson and Horton, Ltd, was convicted today in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court of publishing advertising inviting people to take a share in connection with a bet, namely the predicting of {sporting fixtures. i The charge was laid unifier the Gaming Act last year lin respect of the “Sunday I Herald” competition “Goal.” Mr H. Rosen, S.M., conivicted and discharged the firm and ordered it to pay $45 towards the cost of pro-; secution. The Magistrate had orig-i inallv dismissed the charge,; but after a successful police; appeal the Supreme Court! referred the case back to him i for reconsideration.
