Sir, —After reading about the serious lack- of accommodation in Christchurch for university students, I discussed the situation with a friend who put forward this very wise theory, which I hasten to share with those concerned at the problem. He contends that the present trend towards flatting has used far too many buildings otherwise most suitable for students, and this must surely be so, as numerous young people have good homes at a time when they are well-equipped to return a little, to parents who, in many cases, supported them with great sacrifice during difficult financial years. Even nurses’ homes are not fully used, and what a waste of money and facilities that proved.—Yours, etc., PRIORITIES
