Lean oyster forecast
fN.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Feb. 25. Another lean season is predicted for Nelson oysters and mussels. The new season is due to open on Saturday, the day after the close of the scallop season, which has been excellent. Oysters may be fished for six months, and mussels for eight months, from March 1. Last year was poor, and this year seems unlikely to be better, according to a spokesman for Associated Fishermen Nelson, Ltd. “However, the spatting at present is excellent so it should be good again next year,” he said.
