Junior athletics team
Fifty-one athletes have been named in the Canterbury team for the inaugural New Zealand under 17 track and field championships at Wellington on March 7 and 8. The captain of the boys’ section will be the Canterbury junior (under 19) 100 metres champion, Andy von Biel. He will compete in five events, the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres, and the two relays. Jan Bishop has been chosen as the girls’ captain. She. too, has a heavy programme having been seclected for the shot, discus and javelin. The team is:
