Short-pool records
(N.Z.P A -Reuter—Copyright) ROSTOCK (East Germany). ' East German swimmers have broken six unofficial world short-course records in the national indoor champion, ships at Rostock. Cornelia Ender, who set two new marks earlier, swam the 100 metres freestyle in 56.175ec for her fourth title of the championships and a record. Roger Pyttel secured his fourth title with a record time of 55.28 sec in the men’s 100 metres butterfly. The other new short-course' records went to Rosemarie Kother (200 metres butterfly in 2min 14.435ec), Hannelore Anke (100 metres breaststroke in Imin 12.295ec), Ulrike Tauber (400 metres individual medley in 4min 48.645ec), and the new backstroke star, Claudia Hempel (100 metres brackstroke in Imin 4.645ec). Official records are only recognised for times set in Olympic-sized pools of 50 metres. The championships are being held in a 25-metre pool.
