Ocean-race plans
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Ocean passage yacht races from New Zealand to the Pacific Islands might be held more often. The sport’s two main clubs in New Zealand, the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, of Auck. land, and the Onerahi Yacht Club, of Whangarei, are considering this because of the growth of popularity of the races. The Auckland club is considering an Auckland to Suva race in 1976 to follow the Whangarei-Noumea race in April, and the Whangarei club is considering holding its Noumea race every second year instead of every fourth. This year’s Whangarei. Noumea race has attracted a fleet of 87 yachts. Golf.—Paul Holmes won the intermediate section of the Templeton summer golf tournament on Sunday. He had a 36-hole total of 159 with rounds of 79 and 80.
