Frazier to box in N.Z.
(N.Z. Press Assoctation) AUCKLAND. The former world heavyweight boxing champion and leading contender for the title, Joe Frazier, will box over eight rounds at Carlaw Park, Auckland, on March 6. Apart from Gene Tunney, who was in New Zealand during the war while in the United States Armed Forces, Frazier will be the only former world heavy-weight champion to make an appearance in New Zealand. He will be on the bill of the “Battling" La'Avassa v. Johnny Mataitini middleweight contest in an Auckland Boxing Association outdoor carnival. Frazier will box eight three-minute rounds against two Negro heavy-weights. On Sunday in Melbourne, Frazier will fight Jimmy Ellis for the right to challenge Muhammad Ali for the world title.
