Water-polo finalists
Wharenui A will meet Beckenham-Sockburn A in the water polo premier-grade grand final at 7.30 this evening, after an unconvincing. 6-4 win in its minor final against Wharenui B on Saturday.
In the first quarter. Wharenui A looked well drilled, and led, 4-1, at quarter-time. But in the next three quarters it scored only two goals, while conceding three. Its goals were scored by lan Gunthorp (two), Richard Clark, Gary Camnbell, Murray McGirr, and Bryan Hazlett. The B team’s goals were scored by Derek Ferigo (two), Mark Lewis, and Richard Tweedie.
Gelt.—David Jagger 'Britain) has won the girth \lgeriar open golf championship in Lagos and leads In th* African safari circuit with three tournaments in Zambia and the Kenya open still to be played.
As well as the premier and [youth grand finals at Queen Elizabeth II Park this evening, the youngest players iwill have their play-off. The jurder-13 teams from Sock[bum Park and Wharenui will meet to decide the champion side in the grade — a match required because of Wharenui’s win on Friday evening.
