S.I. win at Manfield
A South Island driver was the surprise winner of the 200-kilometre production car race at Manfield, near Feilding, last week-end. lan Tulloch, driving an E 49 Charger, beat Jim Richards, of Auckland, bv more than half a lap. Richards, in a Falcon G.T., was followed by Brian Green (Torana XUI) and Rod Coppins (Charger 770).
While most of his rivals refuelled during the race, Tulloch lasted the whole 70 laps, building up a big lead and coasting home in the final 20 laps. Another South Islander, Bryan Hessey, of Christchurch, managed to finish fourth in his class in his Mazda RX2, after rolling six laps from the finish.
