Building permits issued by the Waimairi County Council in December and Jami- ( ary were valued at §2,334,427, compared . wit h ( $2,017,973 for the corres-i ponding period a year ago. Permits for 37 new houses and 21 flat units were issued in January, compared with 20 ' houses and 25 flat units a I vear ago. ; The average cost of a on the January figures was §19.040, or $156.56 ai square metre, compared with !$17,036 and $110.39 a year; J ago.
