Car “converted”
Sir, — I : am surprised about the surprise about car conversions, expressed by
Professor Crawford. As professor of geology he surely must have heard of that famous British amateur geologist, Colonel MuffingtonSmee of the Mongolian Steam Cavalry (see the “Canberra Times” of Febr iary 6, 1975) who performed even greater miracles, his specialty being the conversion of steam horses. This places Outer Mongolia clearly ahead of New Zealand. Professor Crawford must be a newcomer to these windy shores, otherwise he would have heard of the famous evangelist, B. Graham High, author of the popular book "Prayers for Car Converters.” Modest evanglist as he is, he would never accept any honours from the Royal Society of Mesmerists. This modesty is being strengthened by his (unfortunate) belief that the Mesmerist creed strays too far from the narrow-gauge path. — Yours etc., COUNT DE ZWIERZINA, Keeper of the AeratedPolymer Seal of the Polish Monarchist Society of Mesmerists (in exile). February 21, 1975.
