Orana Park approved
Approval in general terms was given by the Paparua County Council last evening to the South Island Zoological Society’s proposals for dr-veloping 40 acres of its 200-acre Orana Park wild-life reserve at McLean’s Island The council adopted a report from a town-planning sub-committee which las' week heard submissions. Il was agreed that developmeni for other than normal rural v-e of the land outside ’he 40 acres would need to get senprate approval The council put a limit of three houses on the 40 acres and required them to be used only by the society’s staff The society was required itself to undertake disposal of refuse and litter, and to opei • a'e at hours fixed in agreement with the council.
