Numbers for boats

Commercial boats in future will not carry prefix letters indicating their port of registration. Instead, they will only carry numbers. Block numbers have been allocated to regions, Dunedin receiving the numbers 7401 to 8100, Lyttelton 6601 to 7300, Wellington 4601 to 5500, Auckland 4201-3200. fauranga 3201 to 4000, and Bluff 8101 to 9100. Regions with smaller numbers of boats have been allocated lesser amounts of numbers.
