CORSAIR BAY SCRUB FIRE

A discarded cigarette is thought to have started a fire which burned an area of grass above the road at Corsair Bay about 3.20 p.m. yesterday. Firemen from Woolston and Lyttelton spent more than an hour at the fire, which burned across about 20 metres.

Ten lengths of hose were needed to reach the fire I from the three engines parked on the road.
