HOBART, January 12.
A car containing the body of Mrs Joyce Mary Stokoe, aged 60, was pulled from the Derwent River beneath the damaged Tasman Bridge in Hobart today. Her car was the third raised from the river since the bulk carrier Lake Illawarra hit the bridge a week ago, bringing down two piers and three spans. It took Navy and police divers four days to free the car from masonry and steel reinforcing. The official death toll in the disaster is now nine — five crew members of the Lake Illawarra, and four persons in cars.
Divers will begin searching tomorrow for a car driven by Dr T. Jones. There still is no official word on how many other cars might be in the river. The police today added four names to their list of| people who might have been! on or near the bridge when! it collapsed. They are Neville Dunn, aged 23, of Melbourne, and; Peter Crem. William Kenny, and Michael Kenny, all in their 20s. of Queensland. A Miss Havens, of California. who was believed to I be driving a rented car, is I still on the list.
