REPLY ON HOUSING

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The National Party and its leader (Mr Muldoon) would need to do much more than look at the conditions for family benefit capitalisation, said the Minister of Finance (Mr Tizard). Commenting on ' the National Party’s proposals to improve the housing situation, Mr Tizard said the trouble was caused by Mr Muldoon’s own actions in 1971 and 1972. “He cut Government expenditure in housing construction as part of a National Government’s economy drive in spite of the obvious housing need,” Mr Tizard said.
