World hunger
Sir, — It might come as a surprise to “H. Swinburne” that China has consistently sent .relief in the form of grain and cash to many countries recently. Thus the recent hurricane' victims in the Caribbean received relief, and so has Bangladesh. This news has been reported in HsinHua News. “A.W.W.” says that China has imported wheat but this is in exchange for her exports, which are increasing all around the world. The recent exhibition in Wellington shows what China can produce . « > To guard against natural disasters and war, China is storing huge quantities of grain in large granaries China produced 250 million tons of grain last year, an all-time record. As for the myth of a world population explosion, what about sending some of our unsold beef to starving countries? — Yours etc., P.J.A. November 15, 1974.
