Schools’ display on health
A display on what is being done on the subject of health by school children is being held in the Linwood Intermediate School hall this week. Schools contributing to the display are Linwood Intermediate, Linwood Avenue, Linwood North, Phillipstown, and Christchurch East, which between them cater for about 2000 families.
Mr W. G. Risk, a teacher at Ljnwood Intermediate, said the display was intended to show what was being done in schools on health but it was not part of the Department of Education's proposed human development and social relationships scheme. There are several static displays of children’s work and classroom activities as well as displays on industrial and mountain safety, dental health, and an exhibit set up by the Municipal Electricity Department to illustrate the need for caution near power lines. There are also pamphlets, supplied by the Department of Health, which will be given to interested adults.
