State houses
Sir.-i-Lam thoroughly disgusted with the way the State Advances Corporation is handling the State house situation. We see on television people in the thousands waiting for State houses, while there are pebple already in cheap State houses, even though they now earn a lot more, have a new car, and spend money at hotels. .1 think there should be a limit of five years for people to stay in State houses for this is only a help fr.om the Government, not a hand-out. The Government should also provide that if tenants do not within five years want to buy the house they should be asked to move on and provide for needy people, or reassess their situation.—Yours, etc., STRUGGLING COUPLE. August 27, 1974.
