Heifer sold for $41,000
A yearling Simmental heifer has been sold for $41,000.
The heifer, owned by Messrs M. J. H. and T. F. Davison (Culverden), and H. A. Seeley (Melbourne), was sold to Mr G. Ji Linnegar, of Brunswick Heads, New South Wales, but will remain in New Zealand and will be used in association with egg-transplant operations.
A full German Simmental, the heifer came from the Isle of Man and arrived at Culverden in June. It was one of a consignement of five heifers, four of which were from the Isle of Man and one from Scotland.
Surrey Hills station, Mount Somers, has sold a six-year-old bull, Power of
Te Mania, to Mr H. B. Williams (Gisborne) for $12,000. A full brother of Lake of Te Mania, sold to the United States by the Te Mania stud, Power of Te Mania has been used for three seasons on Surrey Hills on a herd of performance-selected unregistered Angus cows. Of about 200 registered Galloway cattle in New Zealand, about 40 have recently been purchased by Mr D. Gallop, of the Avalanche Galloway stud, Queanbeyan, Australia.
