Rhodesian election
Sir, —When the Pioneer Column entered Rhodesia in 1890, the population was estimated at 400,000. Today the African population is more than four million, thanks to the law and order and health services brought in by the whites. There is no African nationalism outside a handful of agitators. This is why black Rhodesians report terrorists to the Security Forces, and provide more than half the Army and Police. Z.A.N.U. and Z.A.P.U. represent only themselves and world Communism. Only one terrorist in 10 is a Rhodesian. African political parties are barred only-when they resort to violence to gain support. The European “Divide and Rule” is to stop tribal warfare, and to ensure progress in the living standards of the blacks. Black Rhodesians are aware of the horrors of the black African “One-Party State.” They will have none of it in their country,—Yours etc., A.R.M. August 10, 1974.
