Daylight saving effects

Country children would be at a disadvantage if daylight saving was introduced, said Mr G. E. Rennie at a meeting of the executive of North Canterbury Federated Farmers yesterday.

At this time of year, said Mr Rennie, children caught school buses in the morning in darkness. It would be darker still if they caught the buses an hour earlier.

In the evening, it would be brilliant sunshine when some children went to bed. he said.

The executive decided to inform the education authorities of the effects daylight saving would have on country children.
