Mystery woman for court

(N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright) DUBLIN, May 6. A mystery woman will appear in court in Dublin today after the recovery of 19 old masters worth s2m stolen last week. At the Birdwell police station, Dublin, the woman was identified in a police document as Dt Bridget Rose Dugdaie. This is the name of an

ex-debutante and civil rights workers in London, wanted by the British police on charges of smuggling arms into Northern Ireland.

The police in Dublin Indicated that checks were still being made to identify the woman, held since she was detained on Saturday night during a raid on a cottage in a remote fishing village in southern Ireland. Under Irish law her

name cannot be released officially by the police until a charge has been brought.

Three of the paintings, which include works by Vermeer, Goya and Rubens were found in the cottage and the other 16 were wrapped in a blanket in the boot of a car.

A ransom demand was received by the National Gallery last Friday, demanding £500,000 and the

transfer from England to Northern Ireland of four Irish extremist prisoners.

During their inquiries, the police haxe wanted to interview Dr Dugdaie, who has a doctorate in pCiilosophy.

There was no indication of the charges that would be brought against the woman, who since her arrest has refused to give her name.
