Plastic stocks better
(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON. April 29 Stocks of raw materials held by the plastics industry in New Zealand would allow manufacturers to maintain their present orders, said the industry’s national president (Mr B. Blackshaw. of Wellington) today.
There had been a critical period for some manufacturers last year because of the shortage of supplies, but they were now alert to the situation, said Mr Blackshaw to the industry’s annual conference.
"All manufacturers are now making quarterly surveys of stocks. This gives the industry an early-warn-ing system on supply trends of raw materials.” Any slackening of the United States or Japanese economies would free materials for use in New Zealand.
