ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING

A young man had an emergency operation in Middlemore Hospital tonight after a shooting accident at Port Waikato this afternoon.
Mr J. Lempriere, aged 20, of St Johns Road, Meadowbank, was shooting with a group of about eight companions in rugged land west of Port Waikato when he was accidentally shot in the lowe> part of his back by a bullet from a .22 rifle carried by a friend. The extent of the injuries were not known tonight, but they were thought to be serious.
